This image shows the Norwegian full rigged ship Superior just before the departing with 488 emigrants from Christiania (Oslo) for Quebec in 1866. The Superior was built 1857 at Bath, Maine, U.S.A. and was launched under the name Augustus. The original engraving measures ca. 18 x 13 cm. and was printed in the Norwegian magazine "Norsk Folkeblad" 1866. The magazine was edited by the famous Norwegian poet Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson.
