Fabre Line steamship built 1907 at Glasgow by Russell & Co. Originally launched as the "Alice" for the Austrian company, Unione Austriaca. In 1917 she was seized by the Brazilian authorities and renamed "Asia". Purchased by the Fabre Line 1920. The ship then mainly sailed with emigrants and other passengers between Marseilles and New York via other Mediterranean ports, mainly Naples and Palermo but also Lisbon and Providence.
