City Line steamship built 1870 at Glasgow by Barclay, Curle & Co. Ltd.for G. Smith & Sons, Glasgow. (City Line). Sold to the Clan Line in March 1881 and renamed "Clan Macduff". Foundered off Roche Point on October 21, 1881 while on voyage from Liverpool to Bombay. 32 lives were lost, including the Captain Webster. This image is from an old photograph and shows the ship while in service for the City Line.
