This is an old carte de visite photograph showing the Inman Line steamship City of New York (1), commanded by Capt. P. C. Petrie. The City of New York (1) was launched in Glasgow on April 12, 1861. On March 29, 1864, she was wrecked in dense fog on Daunt’s Rock at the entrance to Queenstown.
