Castle Garden ca. 1856

Old engraving showing the Castle Garden shortly after it was taken in use as the Immigration Processing Center for New York. The Castle Garden was used as an Immigration Processing Center from Aug 1, 1855 till April 18, 1890. This engraving was published in the Illustrirte Zeitung, Germany 1856: "Landungsplatz für die Einwanderer der Castle Garden, Newyork". The original measures ca. 17 x 11 cm.
