Werkendam - ex British King

This steamship was built 1881 at Belfast by Harland & Wolff and launched as the British King. Sailed on the Liverpool - Philadelphia service for the American Line 1881 - 1889. Purchased by the Holland America Line and renamed Werkendam 1889. Sailed in the Rotterdam - New York route with emigrants and other passengers. The image is from an old postcard.
